Wrapping Up Halifax Training Camp

As Christmas comes around, the end of the on-water season is now over. I have now finished 7 weeks of training here at Senobe Aquatic Club in Halifax and I have now ramped-up training back home. Since starting this camp, I’ve trained upwards of 500 km on top of hours of weights, runs, rows and swims. I have made some great technical improvements and can feel myself getting faster.

Unfortunately, the last 3 weeks of the camp were fair weather paddling only meaning morning paddles are not guaranteed in case it’s -15 degrees overnight. This has meant I have started to transition to a bit less time on the water and more time on the rowing erg.

I love to push myself and I have tested my 2k two different times now. The first time was 5 weeks ago when I scored a 6:12.4 which was a 12-second pb and the second time I tested was 3 weeks ago when I pb’d again at 6:09.

I’m super happy with these results on and off the water and am looking forward to continuing hard winter training back home in Ottawa before heading to Florida for an 8-week training camp starting February 19th.
