I just got back from Florida training camp, and I wanted to update you on how things went!
3 Week Florida Summary
The first three weeks of my Florida training camp have been completed.
Each week builds on the previous. The first week was spent regaining our sense of the water and each progressive week, the speeds and intensity ramp up. During these three weeks, I have had the opportunity to train with some great competitors, some of whom are trying to qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The next five weeks will be spent with the Ontario team, training in Palm Coast. During this camp, I will have the opportunity to train with the K2 partner that I raced with when we won the silver medal at Olympic Hopes in Poland and who I will be racing with at the Junior Worlds Qualifiers.
End of Florida Summary
After eight weeks, the Florida Training Camp has finally come to an end. I ended up collecting 1038 km of paddling, and a total of 117 hours of training including running and weights.
Training was difficult and every practice had its focus. Each week we would do anywhere from 120-170 km on the water and as the weeks progressed, the intensity of training and speed ramped up.
This was a great first jumpstart for a big year of racing. The year will start with local regattas and then Ontario team trials on June 5th to qualify for the provincial team. Towards the end of June are National Team Trials where I will try to qualify for Junior Worlds and Olympic Hopes regattas.
